Relationships are extremely complex. They differ drastically and there is never one strict list of 'do's and don'ts' that apply to all relationships.
The frequency of you seeing your boyfriend / girlfriend differs drastically and depends on a number of factors.
The Distance Between The Two of You
If you live in close proximity to each other you should be able to see each other as often as possible.
If you live further a part or are in a long distance relationship, it's expected that you wouldn't be able to see your boyfriend / girlfriend as often as those who live closer together.
How Long You've Been Together
All so often the 'novelty wears off' with regards to relationships. What this means is that in the beginning of your relationship everything seems to go well, you seem to be completely and utterly in love and everything seems to be going perfectly. Coupled with this would be the fact that you can't get enough of each other meaning that you're likely to spend more time together or see each other more often. As time goes by and the relationship ages, often the romance and love fades a little. It is at this stage that you may find that you're spending less time together or seeing less of each other.
Your Relationship Itself
As a rule of thumb, the closer you are, the more often you'll want to see each other. Love evokes feelings of closeness and makes you feel like you need to be around him or her as often as possible.
If you have a lot in common or have a 'friendship' aspect in your relationship, you'll be more likely to want to spend more time together. If you're less a-like and thus don't find each others company as entertaining, you're likely to spend more time a part.
Remember, you don't wanna be with someone because they feel like it's their duty, they have to do it or you'd be mad if they didn't. You wanna be with them because they want to be with you.
