Romantic date ideas / Memorable dates

Going on dates can be an exciting experience no matter how long you’ve been together. Depending on the date you choose it can also add to or emphasise elements of romance and fun in the relationship.

Below is a list of ideas for great dates and what you can actually gain from each of them. By combining some of them you could make an even better date.

Romantic / fun date ideas
Attend a dance / ball together
The idea of going to a dance (ball, school dance, work function where dancing is involved, etc) is always appealing in a romantic sense. It is also antique which adds to its value.
As mentioned this date is highly romantic. Part of the reason for this can be attributed to the fact that fairy tales are always associated with romance. Attending a dance of any sort appeals to this mind-set due to the similarities between modern dances and fairy-tale balls.
Dances allow fun and excitement to build up by dressing up and paying a lot of attention to your appearance.
They also allow for a lot of quality time as they aren’t as loud or busy as attending clubs.
Dances and balls are sometimes hard to find.
This is also usually a bit of an expensive date (tickets, outfits, etc.) but if money isn’t a problem then it would definitely be worth it.
Try to do a ‘dance date’ at least once in your relationship. It’s sure to be worth it. If u can do it more than that, then even better.
Don’t forget your camera! Remember to take pics on all dates (you always want to keep something to look back at and smile) especially this one. Memories are always good.

Long walks and scenery
This is one of the most romantic and affordable dates.

You get a lot of alone and quality time.
This date is affordable and romantic.
You can get a lot of romantic pics taken (more memories).

If it rains and you haven’t prepared for that, your date could be ruined.
Make sure that you check all weather forecasts beforehand in order to assure that you have an enjoyable date. Sunny weather would be great.
If you’re having your date in snowy weather (which could also be tons of fun) make sure that you prepare adequately for it.
Be sure to advise your date to wear comfortable walking shoes if you plan on doing a lot of site / scenery seeing. Nothing can be more of a put-off then being uncomfortable due to wearing the wrong shoes or being dressed inappropriately.

Night or picnic under the stars
This is another romantic and affordable date.

This date is not only affordable but also highly romantic (as mentioned).
You will have tons of quality time.
This takes one of the top spots on memorable dates.

If you don’t check the cloud cover for the night of your date, the stars might not be very visible.

Heighten the romance of the date by including champagne or non-alcoholic beverages.
Pack blankets in order to do a lot of cuddling and to prevent coldness ruining a great date.

The classic movie date
Going to see a great movie with your date can be a lot of fun.

There are a wide variety of movies showing at any time (romantic comedies, romance, drama, action, thrillers, horrors or animations) meaning that both of you will definitely be able to be satisfied with the movie.
If you’re not planning on hanging out after or before the movie but rather going straight to the movie and leaving straight after, a movie may have the negative effect of not allowing enough conversation or bonding time.
Tips:  Couple a movie with dinner, lunch, drinks or ice-cream before or afterwards in order to be able to get to know your date a bit better.

A picnic for two
Picnics will always be a hit due to the romance in it all.

As mentioned picnics are extremely romantic.
They also allow you, as a couple who (depending on how long you’ve been together) might not have that much romance in your relationship, to heighten and add to it again.
If you run out of things to say to eachother (if you haven’t been dating so long and everything isn’t completely spontaneous yet) the date could die down a little because there is no other major form of entertainment.
Make sure you check whether forecasts before planning a picnic date. There’s nothing worse than having your first date ruined when it suddenly starts raining. A perfectly sunny day should be best.
Be sure to pack some music along. It will heighten the mood and allow for some entertainment in case the conversation dies down a little. It could also give you a break when you run out of things to say.

Game arcades
This is a cute idea for couples of all ages.

The idea of including a game arcade visit in your date could be a very good one.
It increases feelings of youth, fun and romance.
It encourages many opportunities for romance (all the teddies, flowers and candy often available) and fun competitiveness with numerous gaming opportunities (racing, bowling, etc.).

You can only spend a certain amount of time at a game arcade so this is better combined with another dating aspect (dinner, movies, etc.)

As priory mentioned this date is best combined with other date aspects (a meal, ice-cream, drinks, etc).
An alternative would be to turn this into more of a theme park visit instead. Theme parks have all the same elements and benefits as a game arcade but are better in that they have more to do and can thus serve as stand alone dates.

This is especially fun if neither of u have done it before.

This kind of date also allows for a lot of fun with all the slipping, sliding and sometimes falling going on with regards to it.
If you’re both expert skaters you can have tons of fun doing some ‘skate dancing’.
Depending on the kind of person you are, you may find it a little embarrassing falling on the ice during your date (also depends on how long you’ve been together). If so, postpone this to another date further down the line instead.

When going ice-skating make sure that you’re dressed very warmly. Remember that even if it is in the middle of summer, the ice is still cold and you’ll freeze if you’re wearing summer clothes.
Feeling cold during your date will ruin the mood and cause you both to want to leave sooner; resulting in less fun being had.
Also make sure that you have adequate strapping or ice-skating gear in order to avoid discomfort ruining your date.

A meal
Meal dates are extremely common for various reasons.
This date allows you to find out a lot about your date. You will be able to ask him/her tons of questions in order to find out more about him/her as person. No matter how long you’ve been together there will always be something you may not know about the other person.
Think about some interesting things to ask your date (something they might not have told you yet) and get to know him / her better. They’ll love your interest as well.
You will also be able to get more time together in an almost private atmosphere (it will just be the two of you at the table) and will thus be able to have more of a ‘quality time’ date.
Sometimes food can be a bit of a distraction and conversation can die out completely.
Make sure you have a few topics in mind to talk about in order to assure that the conversation flows.
Make sure that you pay a lot of attention to the way you handle yourself during the date (table manners, posture, etc.). You don’t need to be a snob or act like a prince/ princess but speaking with your mouth full of food will really not be charming.

Seeing a concert together can be tons of fun.

Concerts allow you to relax and have fun in a chilled atmosphere where you don’t need to feel pressured to find something to say all the time.
As much as not having to find something to say all the time might be an advantage, it may also be a disadvantage in the fact that you won’t have a lot of alone time or quality conversation time.
Going on a concert date can be very similar to going on a date to a club – they’re both loud and crowded so you may not have a lot of privacy or talk time.
A good idea would be to make sure that you get some alone time before or after the concert.
Ensure some alone time by either grabbing a meal, ice-cream or drinks before or after the concert. This will allow you to share some ‘quality time’ in order to find out more about your date or strengthen your bond in order to ensure a second date.

Watching DVDs and cuddling
The cheap and yet romantic ideas of watching DVDs and cuddling are always winners.

This allows you to bond in a more chilled atmosphere (either of your houses).
This is also a very affordable date if you’re on a tight budget.
This obviously depends on how well you know each other or how long you’ve been together. On contrast if you really don’t know each other that well then this definitely wouldn’t work (depending on the kind of people you are).
To ensure that this is a prefect date, be sure to add extra elements to it:
Tons of snacks (popcorn, chocolates, etc.)
To make things more romantic ensure the cuddling aspect (blankets, cushions etc.)
Dimming the lights always add to the ‘romantic date’ mood of things.

A visit to a build-a-bear workshop (well known in almost all countries)
This always takes a top spot on memorable dates.

Building a bear together will allow you to have something of each other forever. It will give you a memorable experience and allow for something to remember from your very first date together.
This is very romantic as well as fun.
You will also be able to see each other personality’s really well and will have a lot of interaction time during this date.
If the person you’re going on a date with isn’t much of a romantic or young at heart then this might not work out. Most people would love this kinda date so this shouldn’t be a problem.
In order to make this more fun or exciting swop bears at the end of the date. This will also add to the ‘romance aspect’ of the date.
