In a relationship, What does it mean to 'take it slow'?

What does 'taking it slow' mean? What does it mean to take it slow or take things slow? How do you take a relationship slowly?

Taking it slow is basically a self explanatory term. It doesn't have any hidden thoughts or meanings.
When you get into a relationship the pace is extremely important.

Many people who rush things or rush into things end up regretting the way things go or how they end up. Many relationships fall a part because things weren't paced properly or one or both parties didn't think about things clearly.

When you decide to take things slow, you're making a decision to 'go with the flow' or allow your relationship to gradually take it's course. This usually means that the relationship doesn't become too serious too fast or isn't a highly committed one from the beginning. The advantage of this is that you're allowed to learn more about each other in a more relaxed pace while figuring each other out. you can then gradually build your relationship into a more serious one. The disadvantages of this is that if you aren't on the same page regarding what is or isn't acceptable in your relationship or how serious it actually is, one of you can get hurt due to differed expectations. The best thing would be to discuss your relationship in order to ensure that you're on the same page.

Taking it slow can be beneficial to your relationship if it's what you both want and agree on.
