Waiting for a guy to call or text |
In this day and age it honestly does not matter at all who calls or texts first. There are a few things you may want to consider when deciding whether or not you should be the one to make that first text or call though.
As a basis for this article I will come from the viewpoint that it is ALWAYS "Okay" or "Normal
for the guy to call or text first. If however you are a girl then you may want to consider the below points in deciding whether or not you should call or text first. The items below will help you try and figure out why he is not calling or texting first so that you can then decide whether or not you should make the first move.
1. Is they guy you are interested in very shy
If the guy you are interested in is very quiet or shy then he is less likely to call or text you first even if he is interested in you. He may be scared of rejection or nervous about what to say to you because he doesn't want to mess things up. If you are interested in a shy or quiet guy then you may need to make the first call or text just to make sure that he is reassured that you are interested and that it is safe to make contact with you.
2. Do you know his relationship status?
If you are not sure whether or not he is in a relationship then you should probably try and do some investigating before making the first move. The guy you are interested in might not call or text first if he is in a relationship already. If this is the case and you decide to call or text first then you could only be opening yourself up to rejection (or fights with another girl / women) if you call or text him.
Ask around if you know some of his friends or check his online profiles (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc) for any signs of a relationship before deciding to call or text first.
3. Are you very popular?
If you are very popular or come across as intimidating or out of his league because of your group of friends, your beauty, your finances, your job or intelligence then he may not call or text you first out of fear of rejection. You may need to make the first move in this case.
4. Does he know that you are single?
If he thinks that you are in a relationship or someone that he knows or is close to is interested in you, he might not call or text first. If you suspect that this may be the case then it may be a good idea for you to make the first move.
How to call or contact the guy you are interested in for the first time:
You can just send a simple or short text message or keep your phone call short or simple. Here are a few examples:
- " Hi (Guys name)! You randomly popped into my mind and I thought I'd drop you a short text to say Have an awesome Weekend!"
Or make an excuse for your text and it is likely to result in a conversation starter. An example is:
- "Hi (Guys Name). Do you maybe know what the weather will be like for this weekend / when schools will be reopening / when the next episode of this TV show will be airing?"
This will allow him to see you in a friendly way and encourage him to text you back because you are asking a question.
You could call in the same way or following the same examples above.
If you've thought everything through and would like to go ahead with making contact with the guy you are interested in first then go ahead. At least you will have no regrets. There can be nothing worse then being stuck thinking "WHAT IF" or "IF ONLY" I had called.
Good luck!!
